2014 Walk Now for Autism Speaks and 5K Run

Walk Now for Autism is a fabulous and fun event for families and friends to join to benefit all who manage with autism. This event is jam packed with fun events and activities for people of all ages, infants to senior citizens. Walk Now for Autism is our single most powerful force to fund vital research that will lead us to the answers we need. As the fastest-growing serious developmental disorder in the U.S., all of us need to volunteer and join the fight against autism. Whether you have walked many times before or this is your first time joining this cause, you can help greatly! You will not only help raise funds, but you join the fun and supportive family-focused community.

One in 88 American children have a form of autism and every 11 minutes, another family receives the devastating news that their child has an autism spectrum disorder. This rate is higher than those diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and cancer combined, according to a study by the United Nations (UN). The secretary general of the UN stated that autism is not “limited to a single region or country, it is a world-wide challenge that requires global action.” 

By getting involved in local events that raise awareness for autism, we can help overcome this syndrome. A great quality of Jupiter is its community involvement. Our residents and society are devoted to always improving our community. From beautiful galas, fun events, fundraisers and socials, Jupiter offers tons of opportunity to give back!  

The annual Walk Now event is coming up this Sunday, March 2, 2014. It is not too late to register and join the walk. If you are not up to physically walking you can still come and enjoy all of the events and activities set up for the day. All donations make a huge difference, whether you want to be a part of the “Grand Club” (team members that raise more than $1,000) or you donate $1, it all makes a grand difference!
