Not even guitar-wielding magician Carlos Santana is impervious to the plight of the Las Vegas real estate market. After having his luxury desert home on the market for nearly a year, the legendary rock-fusion artist has sold it at a loss.
Located at the exclusive Ridges at Summerlin, the state-of-the-art house first appeared on the market in March 2013for $3.75 million. Following a price cut of $250,000 last August, the rocker’s pad held steady at $3.5 million—the price he paid for the property in 2010. Ultimately, however, Santana didn’t come close to breaking even: the 7,240-square-foot contemporary sold in February for $2.855 million.
Built in 2009, the state-of-the-art home offers a pampered experience with hotel-esque features such as accent lighting, skylights, an elevator and large pocket doors for merging indoor-outdoor living spaces. It has four bedrooms and six baths, including a palatial master suite with its own fire pit, along with other perks: a theater, a backyard oasis with a disappearing-edge pool, and views of the Las Vegas Strip.
Don’t feel too bad for Santana, though. Despite taking a loss on the property, the guitar hero is living large in a $6 million modern masterpiece located right down the street from the one he just sold.
The rocker’s new spread features a mind-boggling $2 million-worth of sound and video equipment, including a $400,000 movie theater with a 3D projector, an insane surround sound system and a 65-inch flatscreen television that rises from beneath a slate deck with the click of a remote.
As if that weren’t enough, other highlights of the home include a decked-out entertainment room with custom lighting, a home gym, a putting green and a pool. Furthering the resort-like feel of the property, telescoping walls of glass bridge indoor-outdoor spaces and open interiors to views of The Strip.
