Connecticut Winter Wine Trail in Full Swing

If you're like us, you enjoy a nice glass of wine. And, you've probably made your way around the state to many of Connecticut's vineyards and sampled their offerings. You might even have participated in the passport program of the CT Wine Trail, trying (like us) to win that 2 week trip to Spain. Without luck.

If you haven't heard of the Wine Trail, check out this post to get acquainted. It's a great way to become familiar with the over 30 wineries and vineyards in Connecticut, sample some delicious wine and enter to win some amazing prizes as well, including that aforementioned 2 week trip to Spain! The biggest drawback, if indeed it IS a drawback, is that the program only runs from May through mid-November, when all passports must be turned in to be eligible for the drawing. After that, it was just sit back and wait for the drawing to see if you were a lucky winner. Until now, that is.
Winter Wine Trail passport

This year, three local wineries have banded together to hold the CT Coast & Country Wine Trail. Wallingford's Gouveia Vineyards and Paradise Hills Vineyard, and Guilford's Bishop's Orchards Winery have partnered to form this mini-passport program during the winter months when most of the state's vineyards are closed. The program started on January 1st and runs through March 30th, and all you have to do to participate is visit one of those places and pick up a passport card and have it stamped at all three wineries. Turn it in by March 30th and you could be the luck winner of one of several great prizes, including the grand prize of a 2 night stay at Water's Edge Resort & Spa, with brunch, valued at over $750! For more info, check out their Facebook page.
So, if you're looking for something to do during all this cold, snowy weather, venture out to one of the participating wineries, get your passport card and get started! You can thank me later...

If you're in the Litchfield Hills or want to experience the wines of that region, there is also a Litchfield Winter Wine Trail, with half a dozen wineries taking part. This program also ends on March 30th. To find out more, check out this post!
