Fall 2014 heralds a distinctively glam collection from fashion’s reigning (and unofficial) King of Clean. The same mood goes for the atmosphere at his runway shows. I love Narciso’s shows. No fuss, nor chaos: they are quiet and zen-like. You come, you sit, you watch, you leave, usually with a smile because you can always count on him to design beautiful things. Fall 2014 is no exception. Elements of asymmetry, glossy satin, and peek-a-boo cutouts for the skimpiest slivers of exposed skin: he has turned up the heat this season, and the results are oh so satisfying. Swift stripes and geometric blocks of neutral color keep it graphic, and the silhouettes are nonchalantly feminine for the woman who is confident enough to know she won’t obtain sex appeal with skintight dresses and up-to-there hemlines.
This is not one that you wear once and toss aside in the consignment store bin. These are clothes you wear, and wear…and wear, season after season. The same goes for the bags. The multi-textured Lygia and paneled, perforated Carolyn (named after his original muse, the late Mrs. Bessette-Kennedy) come in various sizes, for life’s various moments. The selection proves that Narciso wants to be there with you, dressing you for it all. Come fall, be ready to live the glamorous life.
