Now is it.

Now is it.

"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour.
Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute."
According to Einstein, "THAT'S relativity."
Time is simply a way of relating various events.
The future doesn't exist.
It isn't an integral part of a present that unfolds.
And the past isn't something that's in the books.
It isn't settled.
It's invented as we go.
What the past means depends on what we're experiencing now.
It's like a sentence.
The meaning of the words depend on the words that follow.
Try this on Friday (Valentine's Day).
Gaze into your significant other's eyes and say, "Honey, I love..."
You can either end that sentence with "you" or, say, "Starbucks."
And surely your choice will change the meaning of the word "love."
To say nothing of the reaction and subsequent unfolding.
But the unfolding isn't predetermined.
It will be created by you, in that moment.
The past doesn't create the present.
Your present creates the meaning of your past.
George Bernard Shaw wrote, "We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future."
Rather, we are made wise by the recognition that there is no past, nor future.
There is only the stream of experience we call "now."
Now is it.
Each moment is all there is.
And how we master each moment is our real responsibility.
