A Kickstarter Preview / The Hungry Wolves: An Illustrated Book by Christopher Cooper

I’m not sure what the state of the children’s illustrated book industry is in, but if the current TV show lineup for kids is any indication, it’s likely an unintelligible cesspool. When I was a wee lad, I had a wonderful book called “Frederick the Mouse”, which oddly enough came out the same year I was born. It told the story of a mouse that used his imagination to create stories which helped the other mice get through the depressingly harsh winter. The reason I bring up this book in particular is because I have found a children’s book that seeks to inspire the imagination much like Frederick the Mouse. THE HUNGRY WOLVES will be a 30 page wordless picture book. This thought provoking work is aimed to stir the imagination of both children and adults. The illustrated book is 30 page story which explores the fearsomeness of survival, wholeness of creation, immensity of time and the love that creates. The Hungry Wolves was created by Christopher Cooper, an illustrator currently living in Vancouver, Canada.

What caught my attention is that the book forces the reader to come up with their own story. The pictures serve as nothing more than a guide and in the hands of a child this book will provide a new narrative each time they open it. A book like this will also spark the imagination in adults willing to open their mind.
