Your shower is, at the most basic level, a simply practical item. It is there to quickly and conveniently get you clean, with the minimum of fuss and water wastage. The thing is, if you are anything like me, then you will want to make anything in your home – functional or not – look as good as possible, in order to reflect your own personal design ethos.
One thing I did recently was to give my bathroom a going over, and as part of that I revamped my shower to make it look far more clean and modern. Here are three things I did to help achieve that.
Frameless Enclosure
I wanted to promote a seamless, flowing and minimalist look, so the first thing I did was do away with my unwieldy old shower cubicle. In its place I installed a walk-in section, with one complete pane of safety glass fitted to prevent the rest of my bathroom being soaked and/or submerged. It allows the light free play across the bathroom, really enlivening the space.
LED Head
I came across the units on an internet search, convinced at first they were a joke. Why would you combine light and water in such a way without, well, electrocution resulting? Through LEDs and water pressure, that’s how. Once fitted, and with the flow activated, the LEDs spray colour around, turning through blue, green and red for cold, warm and hot, respectively. At the very least it can act as a safety feature, of sorts, as you can tell at a glance the water’s rough temperature.
Concealed Valve
I always go in for shower kits, as they represent the best value and save a lot of hassle. With a kit, you don’t have to go hunting around for complementary additional items, as they are all already there. To further my minimalist look, I went for a concealed shower mixer valve. As the name rather gives away, a concealed valve hides its light (workings) under a bushel (a chrome frontispiece). This means only the head and that smooth front is visible, cutting down on clutter and presenting a clean look.
