Sales of Silicon Valley of luxury homes — those priced at least at $1.5 million — rose 28 percent in July over the same time last year, according to a new report by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. A total of 195 luxury homes sold in July, up from 152 sales in July 2012.

- The most expensive transaction was a seven-bedroom, seven-bath, approximately 5,700-square-foot home in Los Altos that sold for $6.15 million.
- Los Altos boasted the most luxury sales with 48, followed by Palo Alto with 35, Saratoga with 29, Los Gatos with 23 and San Jose with 17.
- Homes sold in an average of 24 days, down from 30 days a year ago and even with the previous month.
