As many of you know, I love doing what I can to support Cookies For Kids Cancer, an organization that's close to my heart. This year, Gretchen Holt, who created Cookies For Kids Cancer to raise money for research into pediatric cancer, has organized an amazing evening, Chefs For Kids. Tonight, 28 top chefs and 14 fabulous pastry chefs will be cooking and baking their hearts out for people who were generous enough to support the organization and lucky enough to buy tickets for the gala -- the tickets were sold out before the invitations were even in the mail.
Christina Tosi, chef and co-owner of Momofuku MilkBar, I just call her Miss Fabulous, is in charge of the sweet side of the evening and she invited me to participate. And so, after baking 800 World Peace Cookies, I was at Milk Bar yesterday with other great chefs to wrap the cookies and stuff the cookie jars that each guest will receive. Thank you, Christina for organizing a super-efficient and super-fun day.
Even if you weren't lucky enough to nab a ticket for tonight, you can be part of the silent auction and nab some very special gifts, among them some swell baking classes. Christina Tosi is offering a class for 30 at Milk Bar in Williamsburg (Brooklyn, NY); Jenny McCoy is offering a baking class in New York City; and I'm inviting 4 to 6 people to spend the day with me in my kitchen in Westbrook, CT.
Bid on me, help Cookies For Kids Cancer and come to Connecticut to bake cookies, have lunch, chat lots and leave with gifts. It will be a terrific day together in the country! Drive up (I'm about 2 hours from NYC) or take the train and we'll pick you up at the station.
