During the spring of 2014 we will begin

AmeriCorps is the national service initiative that provides community service opportunities to people of all ages and backgrounds. For the past 20 year, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity has engaged AmeriCorps members to build and rehab homes across the 7 county metro area.  The affiliate has also partnered with Habitat Minnesota to host VISTA positions and additional members through other National AmeriCorps programs.

We look for members who:
* Are dedicated to the missions of AmeriCorps and Habitat for Humanity
* Are enthusiastic about joining a team that promotes the AmeriCorps ethic of service
* Are committed to addressing the area’s affordable housing crisis
* Are able to handle a high level of responsibility
* Possess the skills & experience pertinent to the AmeriCorps position for which they are applying

Our members participate in a variety of training sessions to help them develop their service and workplace skills.
* Understanding affordable housing needs that exist across the state of Minnesota
* CPR and First Aid
* AmeriCorps team-building activities
* Civic Engagement and Creating Social Change

Creating a team-like atmosphere and understanding the importance of being an active and engaged citizen are important components of our AmeriCorps program. We will plan and carry out community service projects in partnership with other non-profit organizations and participate in events with AmeriCorps members from around the state of Minnesota. Our AmeriCorps members will attend an orientation at the beginning of their service term, attend 2-3 Civic Engagement Retreats during the program, and participate in an end of the year AmeriCorps event.
