By any measure, a sprawling, 17-windowed loft in storied and tony SoHo is the stuff of dreams. But it’s not just the unabashed luxury that makes this the quintessential Manhattan nirvana; not just the blue chip furnishings—Paul Kjerholm chairs, FLOS lighting—more than the rarely used, but handsomely bespoke kitchen.
There’s the found object: Sony 8-track radio discarded on an East Village street; the vintage treasure, updated: vintage Saarinen chair reupholstered in salvaged leather; the ‘green’ infusion: coffee table made from recycled tires; inventive storage (it doubles as storage chest); edgy contemporary photography; arty contemporary magazines; stove-top espresso maker; rooftop views of Manhattan. As every New Yorker knows, living large has everything to do with the small stuff.
