Choosing a Genesis child theme

Genesis WordPress child theme choices …

In my last post we discussed using the Genesis Framework as a foundation as the informed choice, for a fast well coded site.
Recent advances in coding and software standards, including the widespread adoption of HTM5 and CSS3 has lead to a literal explosion of creative ideas, only tempered by your (or the developers) imagination.

One of the best and coolest trends is the full screen background image.

One of the first to utilize this concept for real estate was Agent Evolution, when they introduced the very popular Curb Appeal and Turn Key themes. This talented bunch have also just announced several new themes including this stunning example:

Must See from Agent Evolution is priced at $49.95.

One way of creating a more unique site, but still keeping the cost down, is to use a non real estate specific template.
The Tequila theme from ZigZagPressisn’t full screen but still manages to take advantage of big images and CSS3 shadow effects.
ZigZag have priced this at $35 and have a number of other nice designs that would translate nicely into real estate sites.
StudioPress, who themselves created Genesis, have a big range of child themes on their site – just be sure to choose a responsive one (Agent Press their dedicated real estate theme, is not currently responsive). I personally like the new Sixty Nine child theme, priced at $99.95 which includes a copy of Genesis.
With brighter colors and real estate related background images I think this could be stunning:

If you are adventurous and have the time, you could also build your own child theme using an easy to use drag and drop editor - Cobalt’s Dynamic Website builder. Some of you might have been familiar with Catalyst, well this is his replacement. The screenshot below shows some of the options available:

Cobalt also offers the Genesis Extender plugin which allows the user to customize any Genesis powered template.
One more marketplace worth mentioning is the Creative Market where you will find a choice of 37 different child themes for Genesis. If I had to pick one as a standout it would be the Careful theme priced at $49. As with Sixty Nine above, slightly different colors and images would make this one incredible real estate web site:

There’s plenty here to get you excited about changing up your real estate web site.
