The new LRT line coming to Eglinton Avenue will be a huge perk to residents of Silverthorn Heights, the new housing enclave by Icon Homes. But the project’s location at 55 Ypres Road, a side street just south of Keele and Eglinton, is home to plenty of other amenities as well.

Whether you’re looking to hit the shops, strap on your skates or just relax with a good book, the surrounding area has you covered. We looked into some of the benefits of calling the community home:

Coronation Park

Enjoy 8.5 hectares of green space just west of Eglinton and Keele. The many perks of the public space include the amphitheatre, baseball diamond, two basketball courts, bocce courts and tennis court. Plus if you’re looking for local, kid-friendly activities, there’s also a splash pad and playground too.

Scarlett Woods Golf Course

Looking to hit the greens on the weekend? Practice your swing at the nearby Scarlett Woods Golf Course, an executive-length par 62 course suitable for both beginners and experts. After you’ve teed off, enjoy the restaurant and lounge space in the club house.

Chris Tonks Arena

Aside from the many grocery shops and some big box stores along Eglinton West, there’s also Lawrence Plaza shopping centre just ten minutes north. It’s a hub for all kind of practical purchases. Also a quick drive north, the Yorkdale Shopping Centre is a great place to indulge in some boutique shopping, grab dinner or even catch a movie.
