Declining Organic Reach On Facebook

Yes, it is true that there has been an steady decline in the organic reach of your Facebook fan page and even Facebook admits it. Does it mean that you should no longer concentrate on Facebook for your social media marketing… Hell No!

This has been long time coming, as Facebook users add more and more friends and like a lot of fan pages it becomes a challenge for Facebook to keep showing relevant information which you would like to see. Thinking in terms of a business, the more your Facebook fans like other fan pages, this lessons the reach of your post… unless your post is extremely engaging and is like / shared by a lot of your fans.

So what should a business / brand do?

Well, every challenge brings in opportunity along with it… It’s time to pull up your socks.

- Instead of putting random posts to show constant activity, make sure you post something meaning full and something engaging. Remember, the key to reach more fans organically is for them to like and share your posts.

- Use more of graphics and videos. People like watching video’s or looking at interesting graphics than plain old text. Add images / videos to your Facebook posts, be creative.

- Time matters. Look at your Facebook statistics and check the time when your post reach is the most. This is the time you should be posting. You can schedule your post accordingly.

- Mobile users. A lot of people use Facebook on their mobile phones, close to 50% and it makes lot of sense to you keep those users in mind while creating a post. If you add an image to the post, make sure the image is properly sized so that it shows without having to click open the post. People will just scroll away rather than clicking.

Apart from the above tips, start thinking lines of Facebook advertising as well. I am not saying make all your post sponsored but every now and then sponsor a post so that it reaches all your fans and you keep them engaged.
