MODERN ART MASTERPIECES RECREATED AS BUILDINGS [PICS]

Italian illustrator Federico Babina likes to use architecture as a medium to create playful illustrations such as Archipix. His latest series, Archist, imagines houses in the style of famous painters.

The cross-sections of buildings all evoke the style of an artist – so Mondrian’s house is blocks with a primary colour palette while Picasso’s echos his Cubism background, with irregular shapes. Babina wanted to reinterpret architecture through an artist’s lens. He says:
Art and architecture are disciplines that speak and lightly touch each other, the definition and function of the architecture are changing constantly with the development of contemporary art.
