When you are moving, labelling is like a gift. It costs nothing, and barely takes an effort. More importantly, it makes everything much easier and simpler. Here are a few pointers that will make the process even more efficient:
- Don’t leave anything out. Label everything, even if it’s a box that contains the most unimportant entities of your house, and literally reads ‘everything else’.
- Don’t just write the names of the contents of the boxes, but also which part of the house they belong to. Example ‘Glasses, Kitchen’ or ‘Pillows, Living room’.
- Pack and label all the wires, cables, extension cords, and small electronic components separately. Take a picture of the computers, consoles, and other gadgets that require some assembly, so you can use the picture for guidance while reassembling.
- Number the boxes. This will ensure that everything that leaves point A, reaches point B, and help you maintain a better sense of organization, simultaneously.
- Label the boxes meant for charitable organizations, separately. You don’t have to label them based on the contents. Its ok, if you put all old clothes, toys, books, etc., in the same box, meant for charity.
