Signet Signal Symbol

Stephen told me about a 1976 book he found a few years back in a second-hand bookstore. It’s called Signet Signal Symbol, by typographer Walter Diethelm (1913-1986). I searched online and found this lovely Flickr set courtesy of Unit Editions.

Stephen’s spot on. It’s essentially the vintage edition of Hyland & Bateman’s Symbol.

This last photo (below) is from a similar set by Antonio Carusone. There are apparently a few of those translucent sketch pages throughout.

I found a Flickr set of another Diethelm book, Visual Transformation (not logo-specific but still interesting).
