Inspirational Brunch Celebrates Selfless HeartsIf

If you’ve been to one of Keller Williams Realty’s Family Reunions, then you know the last day is truly something special. After four days of education, training, networking and partying, attendees take the morning off to celebrate the people and the culture of the company during a truly spectacular event called Inspirational Brunch.

There to tell the incredible stories during this year’s 15th annual brunch, which was themed “Selfless Hearts,” was the beloved vice-chairman of the board, Mo Anderson and Kellie Moy, her assistant executive.
Musical guests Take 6 welcomed nearly 9,000 attendees to their seats with their contemporary take on tradition gospel music. Once everyone settled in, Anderson greeted the first guest of the morning – a young man named Tim Harris.
Tim is the owner of Tim’s Place Restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico. What’s special about this particular restaurant is not just that it’s known as the world’s friendliest restaurant, it’s the fact that twenty eight-year-old Tim was born with Down Syndrome, a genetic disorder that never slows him down or stops him from achieving his biggest dreams. Tim believes in running his restaurant with a smile on his face and always strives to bring smiles to the faces of his customers.
In fact, his favorite menu item is the free “Tim Hugs.” He shared with attendees how much customers enjoy ordering these hugs and Tim enjoys giving them so much that he recently held a hug-a-thon to raise money for the Albuquerque Fire Department. Anderson was so touched by his gestures of kindness that she decided to contribute to the cause, presenting a $5,000 check to Tim. “I want you to do something so special for your restaurant and for your employees,” she said.

With his signature catchphrase, Tim yelled “oh ya!” while the audience cheered and chanted along with him.

The second guest to take the stage was Gerry Nicks, associate with the South Bay (Calif.) market center. Nicks’ daughter Elizabeth was seriously injured in a cheerleading accident that left her partially paralyzed. The doctors told her she would never be able to walk again. While taking KW MAPS Coaching’s BOLD program, Nicks became determined to teach Elizabeth the lessons he had learned about affirmations and goals to aid in her recovery and rehabilitation. By removing the limiting belief that she would never walk again, Nicks gave Elizabeth a path – one that she could take step by small step – on her road to recovery.
It worked. Last year, Elizabeth walked across the stage at her high school graduation, a moment that brought the entire family and many others to joyous tears. That morning, Elizabeth proved to a standing ovation, that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. As she walked across the stage many attendees also felt the joyous tears of a tremendous accomplishment.

Dianna Kokoszka, CEO of KW MAPS Coaching and KWU and creator of BOLD, joined the Nicks family on stage to congratulate them and present Nicks with a gift. “Gerry, you and your family are a shining example of what is possible through the power of our mind and our action. As your daughter works toward achieving 100 steps and beyond, we want you to continue on your journey and are pleased to give you one free year of Mastery Coaching!”

The third and final guest honored during Inspirational Brunch was Tobias Bass – an 11-year old boy with a big heart and even bigger mission. Their story began several months ago when Tobias wrote an open letter to his Oklahoma TV station asking for a jogging stroller. “I don’t want any money, I just want my brother to experience what everyone gets to experience.” Titus, the older brother was born with cerebral palsy; the disorder prevents him from running and playing like other children. “I wanted my brother to feel what it was like to run,” said Tobias who reached out to the community for help because his mother Contessa had struggled to raise the two children.

After Tobias finished sharing their story, Anderson offered the family a gift: a brand new washer and dryer for their house. Grateful for the generosity, Contessa burst into tears.
The giving didn’t stop there! Keller Williams associates in attendance were so moved by Tobias’ drive and intelligence that they made donations on site to help him afford the equipment he will need to one day compete in a triathlon. Donations are also being accepted online at www.kw.com/TNT.

The event closed with the presentation of the Bob Carter Inspiration Award which was given to John Hallis, associate with the Ellicott City, Maryland market center. “Hallis has taken charge of RED Day in the Baltimore area and made the day of service an incredible success in his area year after year. Thank you, John for your service,” Anderson said.
