How Pinterest Can Be a Great Marketing Tool {Guest Post}

Today’s guest post comes from our fun Twitter friend Dannielle Cresp who blogs at Style For A Happy Home. Last year Dannielle successfully used Pinterest to grow her audience there from 1000 followers to now well over 17,000! She’s written an ebook full of tips and advice (which shhh! is 30% off at the moment) and so I asked her to share with us a bit about her experience and the possibilities of Pinterest for marketing your blog.
Pinterest can be a fantastic way to spend an evening on the internet, but it can also be a great marketing tool for your blog. It seems strange that something that you enjoy spending time on could also be good for business, but if you do it right, it can.
The beauty of Pinterest is in it’s simplicity. Good images get shared repeatedly and those images often lead you to a site where you can either buy products or learn more about the story behind the image. Pinterest gives you the opportunity to stumble upon new blogs and businesses that you’d never heard of before – and this is great for your blog or creative business, because it’s a way to potentially reach a whole new audience.
Marketing your blog or creative business doesn’t always seem like the most fun way to spend your time, but it can be when you’re using Pinterest to your advantage. There are many tips and tricks that I have discovered over the last few months on not only how to grow your following organically, but also how you can drive those people back to your site.
In May 2013 I had 1000 Pinterest followers and decided to experiment to see if I could grow them to 2000. What actually happened is that they have grown to over 8500 in 5 months and continue to grow each day and brings new readers to my blog each week.
Because I believe that there’s room for all of us to grow together, I’ve created a short and sweet ebook on how you can follow these tips and tricks and tap into the marketing gem that is Pinterest whilst having fun pinning at the same time.
The best part of it is that you can use your personality and the things you love to become that go to person for the topic that you’re passionate about, whether it be design, parenting, fashion or craft (or whatever your topic may be). When it comes down to it, the more you share the more you’re seen by the people who want to follow you and that can only be a good thing.
Are you using Pinterest and is it working for you? Would love you to share your tips or your questions in the the comments.
