A recent Core-Logic and Case-Shiller housing report demonstrated a significant jump in home appreciation in the third quarter of 2013. According to the report, homes appreciation was up 11% across the nation from 2012. Closer to home, Palm Beach County reported a 14.8% increase in home prices.
However, Palm Beach County is only projected to increase 3.6% in 2014.Additionally, two Florida metro areas, Orlando and Jacksonville, are projected to have some of the lowest home appreciation increases across the nation in 2014, at only about 3%. This is good news for those concerned about the potential for another housing bubble. Because the appreciation is expected to slow in 2014, especially in some FL cities, another FL housing bubble is unlikely. However, the slower increase in home appreciation predicted for FL cities in 2014 could indicate some continued weakness in the Florida housing market.
